Our next reader is a triple threat: writer/performer/Groupon alum.
West Side! Britt Julious is a black hippie, a club kid, and a born and bred Chicagoan from the city’s Austin neighborhood on the far west side. She’s also from Oak Park, but that’s far less exciting. After graduating from DePaul in 2009, she spent a year in PR at the MCA before working at High School: Part 2, aka Groupon. It was her time there that inspired her to start writing again for pleasure and, eventually, for escape. She has written for a variety of publications and sites including WBEZ, Vice, Pitchfork, Rookie, and The FADER. In 2012, the Chicago Reader named her the city’s best local writer who excels at social media. She is a freelance writer and currently serves as the senior editor of literary site This Recording where she is free to expound on the merits of Ishiguro and Whitney Houston equally.
Come see Britt on Sunday at The Savoy! Stories start at 8, come earlier for dinner & drinks. Reservation guarantees seating.
