Meet our readers: Mary Wagner

Our September lineup continues with Mary T. Wagner.

Mary T. Wagner is an expatriate Chicagoan who grew up on the northwest side of the city, attending Maternity B.V.M. grade school. She has fond memories of searching for lost marbles in Humboldt Park with her dad, and wearing grooves in the pavement between her home on Lawndale Avenue and the local library near North and Pulaski. Her post-Chicago years include a first career as a journalist and a second career as a prosecuting attorney in Wisconsin. Sandwiched in between and around the edges are her roles as a soccer mom to four kids, and award-winning essayist and photographer.

Wagner’s latest book is “When the Shoe Fits…Essays of Love, Life and Second Chances,” a “best of” collection of her essays now available on Amazon. You can check out her website here, and follow her on Facebook and Twitter. And to sample chapters from her earlier books, click here to read Rabbit Season from “Heck on Heels” and Tiger Beat from “Fabulous in Flats.”

Come out to Great Lakes Tattoo on Sunday and hear Mary’s story; Pleasant House Bakery savory pies at 7pm, stories at 8pm. BYOB (and free beer from Revolution Brewing!)
