Meet our readers – Barrie Cole

Hello and Happy New Year everybody!  We are thrilled to bits about our January lineup, and we know you will be too.  Celebrate this brand spanking new year with us on Sunday, January 13, at our lovely live lit home, Swim Cafe.  You won’t find a friendlier cafe in Chicago, seriously.  Kicking off our January lineup is the amazing Barrie Cole.

Barrie Cole  is a writer, playwright, and performer. Recently she has appeared in many live lit shows including Guts and Glory, Essay Fiesta, Write Club, and Paper Machete. Her plays include the critically acclaimed Fruit Tree Backpack, I Love You Permanently, along with numerous others. Her newest play, “Clumsy Sublime” will have a staged reading in February as part of the Curious Theatre Branch’s Rhinoceros Theatre Festival. She is also working on a collection of short stories entitled Fascinating Mistakes. A few years ago, Justin Hayford of the Chicago Reader labeled her, “Chicago’s Champion of Lyrical Oddness” which she took as a compliment.
